In his first MLR season, Jayson Potroz played an integral role in the New England Free Jack’s 2023 campaign for their first-ever MLR Championship.
Jayson Potroz was selected as the MLR Championship Final Player of the Match following a performance in which he orchestrated the New England Attack against the vaunted San Diego Legion. Whether it was from the kicking tee scoring points, on the front foot cutting through the suffocating Legion defense or flipping the field with his kicking game, Potroz was unstoppable. In the match’s final moments, Potroz kicked the ball into the stands at SeatGeek Stadium to officially deliver the New England Free Jacks a first-ever Major League Rugby Championship.
This season, Potroz started in 16 matches. The 31-year-old kicked 47 conversions and 15 penalties while running for over 1000 meters.
But while stats tell one part of the story, the playmaker’s natural ability to control the game and launch brilliant attacks at will, set him apart from the crowd.
