Charlie Hewitt Reaches 50 Caps

On Sunday April 30th, Charlie Hewitt became the forty-sixth  player in Major League Rugby to appear in 50 matches.

Charlie (Ironworker #44)played rugby for Devonport High School for Boys and Ivybridge College, graduating in 2013. He would go on to the Exeter Chiefs Academy and was selected for England U-18s. Eventually playing for Cardiff Metropolitan University in both the BUCS and Welsh league system. He joined London Scottish in 2014 in the RFU Championship.

In 2015 he joined Worcester Warriors Academy and subsequently earned senior Appearances for the Warriors through the 2016-2017 season.

Charlie joined the then-named Houston Strikers in the fall of 2017 ahead of the first MLR Season. Hewitt (SaberCats #4) would make 8 appearances for the SaberCats in 2018.

Charlie Hewitt appeared for the USA Falcons in 2021 during the Americas Pacific Challenge.

He has played Senior Rugby for London Scottish, Worcester Warriors, and the Houston SaberCats.

Ahead of today’s match in his MLR Career, he’s scored one try, made 169 carries, has 889 meters run, made 362 tackles, has 520 ruck arrivals, 56 lineout takes, and two lineout steals.

Major League Rugby is honoring the first 50 players to reach 50 caps and their role in building the legacy of MLR. The latest of the first forty-six players to accomplish 50 caps for MLR includes Matt Harmon of NOLA Gold,  Brad Tucker of the Rugby New York Ironworkers, and Paul Mullen of the Utah Warriors.
