On Sunday April 30th, Keni Nasoqeqe became the forty-eighth player in Major League Rugby to appear in 50 matches.
Keni (SaberCats #93) grew up playing Rugby in Fiji and played for Lelean Memorial School. He moved to the US and began playing for Belmont Shore in 2015 in the Pacific Rugby Premiership. Winning the Pacific Rugby Premiership with Belmont Shore in 2018. In 2019 and 2021, he played for Belmont Shore’s 7s team during the USA Rugby Club 7s Nationals campaign.
In 2019 he joined the San Diego Legion, where he would appear in 28 matches through the 2021 season. In 2022 he moved on to the Houston SaberCats.
Keni has played Senior Rugby for Belmont Shore, SoCal Griffons, and San Diego Legion.
Ahead of today’s match, in his MLR Career, he’s scored five tries, made 237 carries, has 1510 meters run, made 419 tackles, has 717 ruck arrivals, 45 lineout takes, and four lineout steals.
Major League Rugby is honoring the first 50 players to reach 50 caps and their role in building the legacy of MLR. The latest of the first forty-six players to accomplish 50 caps for MLR includes Matt Harmon of NOLA Gold, Charlie Hewitt of the Rugby New York Ironworkers, and Nate Augsburger of San Diego Legion.
